When placed on glass or metal, they will both give the same reading or zero, because they have been mounted in the aluminum base so that the dial reads “0” when the tip of the needle is even with the bottom of the base. The problem I saw is that the numbers will be different depending on what heads are being used. This is confirmed when Tensjon measure the same turn of a drum key with each device.

Start by adjusting the lugs until the pitches match the entire way around. The overtone filtering increases the accuracy of readings and can be helpful in compensating for ear fatigue.

As you could imagine though I don’t use it often so I would feel better knowing that it’s getting some use. I have limited time to play, so anything that will help me with tuning is a big plus. I’m failing to see how a mechanical device makes this process drumdiial. Send a private message to TheBob. I’ve not used mine in a long time but have owned the tama since it was first introduced.
They’re great fension consistency- I’d a band come in tenssion a few months to do a song at a time, we noted the tensions of everything using the tama at the first session and made our live a hell of a lot easier for the rest. The dial indicates exactly how much “give” there is.
