Wednesday 20 December 2006 – Greymouth to Hokitika


Trip: Greymouth - Blaketown - Karoro - Gladstone - Camerons - Awatuna - Kaihinu - Seaview - Hokitika - Takutai - Mananui - Ruatapu - Ross - Kakapotahi - Harihari - Te Taho - Whataroa - The Forks - Franz Josef - Fox Glacier - Franz Josef - The Forks - Whataroa - Te Taho - Harihari - Kakapotahi - Ross - Ruatapu - Manaui - Takutai - Hokitika

First stop Hokitika where we did some website updates and then had a coffe at Millies Cafe in Hokitika - coffee wasn't much but Fluffo the cat certainly had an attitude:


From there on the road fo Franz Josef Glacier and some of the scenery we passed, including a drive through Ross.



Then Franz Josef Glacier itself.



OK and proof that we were there and not just sitting around.



Couple of waterfalls:


Then off to Fox Glacier.





Warning signs - falling rocks, falling ice and tidal waves.





Just in case - here is more proof that we were there.



Snow on the hills nearby - far too close.


Then off to a camp site at Hokitika with these views and of course the camp site cat (funnily enough there were no ducks at this camp site, well that we saw)!





Short walk to the beach.



No wood collecting (yet) but rocks:
